I Gede Oka Artha Negara, Ssn., MA is the Founder and Artistic Director of Gamelan Artha Negara. He is an accomplished composer, musician, choreographer and dancer from Bali, Indonesia.  From 1992-2011 he was the Associate Artistic Director and a leading performer in Gamelan Suar Agung, acknowledged as one of the finest and most influential Jegog ensembles in Bali. Gede has taught and performed internationally.

Gede Oka is currently a PhD candidate in Ethnomusicology at UCSC. He obtained his MA in Theater Arts from UCSC and his undergraduate degree in Music Composition from ISI Denpasar (Bali's National Academy of the Arts). Gede Oka considers it his mission to spread appreciation and knowledge of Balinese music, dance, and culture around the globe. 

Sarah K. Artha Negara, MFA is the Co-Founder of Gamelan Artha Negara as well as a dancer and aspiring percussionist with the group. She has a Master's Degree in Dance from Mills College and BFA in Dance from California State University, Long Beach. She has taught at Cabrillo College, College of San Mateo, Mission College, and atthe University of California, Santa Cruz.
